Honning
the final finish that makes the difference
Honning is a precision finishing process that allows the optimization of the internal surfaces of machined parts, achieving very low levels of roughness and demanding tolerances.
At TAES, we apply these techniques as the final stage of deep machining, achieving surfaces with a perfect fit, minimal friction, and maximum durability.
Thanks to our specialized equipment and the experience of our technicians, we can perform honning on diameters from 23 mm to 450 mm, with lengths of 8 meters, guaranteeing uniformity, cylindricity and optimal surface finish even on high hardness materials and on diverse geometries
The process
Honing consists of the controlled polishing of a surface using precision abrasive tools that rotate and oscillate simultaneously, generating a characteristic cross-pattern.
The process allows maintaining roundness, straightness and cylindricity, obtaining a surface roughness oriented towards lubrication.
The process does not produce high temperatures, which reduces internal stresses.
Application sectors
honning is a critical process in sectors where dimensional accuracy and surface quality determine the performance of the final product:
- Energy and Oil & Gas: cylinders, liners, pump bodies and hydraulic valves.
- Aeronautics: actuators, hydraulic components and precision elements.
- Automotive: cylinder liners, valves, gear shafts.
- Defense: ballistic tubes, pressure chambers, high-precision parts.
- General industry: all types of parts that require a good surface finish and demanding dimensional tolerance.
